BRAVO’s mission

Show the nation that "Wisconsites love our families and children MORE!"

Wisconsin has a long held reputation of loving its alcohol. BRAVO pledges to be a driving force behind changes in the areas of policy, education/prevention, and treatment/intervention that reflect that the people of our county are valued more than high-risk alcohol consumption.

Formed in 2003, BRAVO seeks to educate our community about the dangers of high-risk alcohol consumption by adults, and the risks of underage drinking.

BRAVO continues an ongoing commitment to the promotion of legislation at both state and local levels aimed at responsible use of alcohol. With help from the Foundation of Saint Clare's Hospital, Healthy Marathon County Community Assessment Funding and B.A. and Esther Greenheck Foundation funding, BRAVO has helped implement a social norms campaign. This campaign is changing the perception in the minds of our youth about the prevalence and use of alcohol or other risky behaviors. In an effort to impact the extremely high binge drinking rates in Marathon County, we are educating adults on what "responsible drinking" really means and the impact of binge drinking.

About BRAVO

BRAVO was formed in response to the 2003 Marathon County Health Assessment, which identified the use and misuse of alcohol among students and teens in Marathon County as one of 6 top priorities. The group continually evaluates the strategies in place and whether or not they are contributing to creating a healthy environment regarding alcohol consumption.  Current areas of focus include policy change, education and prevention, and treatment and intervention.

In Partnership With

Our membership includes participants from most local agencies, the schools, and the faith community. We maintain close ties with the other seven priority areas and are examining ways that we can be further connected as it is apparent that alcohol is a factor in many of the other priority areas. The social norms campaign is a county wide collaborative effort involving the Marathon County Alcohol and Other Drug Partnership Council, many school districts and agencies throughout the area.
