BRAVO announces its launch of the Social Norms Campaign

BRAVO is proud to announce the launch of a Social Norms campaign.  This campaign is a partnership effort with the Marathon County AOD Partnership Council and the Wausau and D.C. Everest school districts.  The campaign is based on the theory that behavior follows perception. Therefore, when students perceive that “everyone is doing it”, their likelihood of engaging in risky behavior themselves increases. With funding from the Foundation of Saint Clare\'s Hospital, Community Foundation of North Central Wisconsin and Aspirus Foundation, BRAVO and its partners present a series of posters, billboards and other media supporting the fact that most students choose not to drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or engage in other risky behaviors. Students are surveyed once a year and their perception of peer use is measured and compared to actual use.

We are hoping that, as in other communities, once perceptions about use become more accurate, actual use drops as well. To see a sample of the posters, please visit our resources page through the link below.

Social Norms Postcard

In an effort to change perception about alcohol and other drug consumption among teens in Marathon County, BRAVO has launched a hard mail campaign aimed at parents. The postcards will feature tips to keep your teen healthy, and statistics about use in Marathon County.
