We love our families and children MORE!!
Wisconsin has the reputation of loving its alcohol.
Let’s show the nation that we love our families and children more.
BRAVO wants you to join us in this fight. Help us:
Enact policies that prevent deaths:
Send a clear message to our legislators that once someone has chosen to drink in high-risk quantities and drive, we are putting our families’ lives first and will not allow that individual multiple attempts to harm others or themselves. The policies we need to examine are OWI penalties, keg registration and the law that allows parents to serve their minor children alcohol in a public establishment.
Allocate resources for treatment of those in need:
The level of alcohol abuse in our state costs us $935 million per year. (www.uwhealth.org/aware/awareallwisconsinriskeducation/13951) Raise the beer tax from the current level established in 1969, and use this money to fund treatment of offenders and prevention education so that people understand the effects of alcohol on the adolescent brain.
As individuals, drink responsibly.
We see this on billboards, we hear it in commercials, but what does this mean? Drinking responsibly means recognizing what is low-risk vs. high-risk alcohol consumption as individuals. Check out our resources page for links to this information.
Our kids are watching:
Model the behavior we want our kids to exhibit. Think about the messages we are sending them about alcohol. Is our behavior telling them that we love our families and children MORE?
