Footprints to Health -- Neighborhood partners working to build community fitness and nutrition one footprint at a time.
Footprints to Health is a neighborhood partnership working to build community fitness and nutrition. Footprints focuses on the neighborhood as the environment and the school as the heart of the neighborhood. Strategies are implemented by collaborating with neighborhood partners in order to create and promote healthy eating and active living opportunities throughout the community. By working to build one healthy neighborhood at a time, together we can create a spider web of wellness in which to live!
Strategies Involve:
Family Activities and Education
Safe Routes To School
Active Recreation Resource Guide
Active Family Challenge
Clinical Practice Guideline
Schools
Currently Footprints is working with Lincoln, Schofield, South Mountain, St. Anne, Stettin, and Weston Elementary schools to pool ideas and create healthy eating and active living opportunities for the residents of the school neighborhoods and families whose children attend the schools.
Elements of the program include family activities and education, participation in the Active Family Challenge, and building a Safe Routes to School program. Activities implemented by the schools include family fun nights, bring a healthy snack days, after school activity and nutrition programs, walk to school days, and bike and pedestrian safety assemblies.
