Mission
Founded in 2003, our mission at HEAL is to develop strategies and interventions to reduce the prevalence of obesity and sedentary lifestyles of the residents of Marathon County.
Vision
To create a culture where the social norm is: physical activity engineered into the daily routine, appropriate portion sizes, and recommended fruit and vegetable consumption.
HEAL uses the Social Ecological Model to understand the interrelations among people, their behavior, and their environment.
Fast Facts About HEAL
The membership of HEAL has quickly grown to over 80 organizations and the structure has evolved to include a leadership group and three subcommittees:
- HEAL/Schools targeting youth through schools or other youth serving organizations
- HEAL/Worksites targeting adults through work places and employers
- HEAL/Pathways focusing on creating an environment that supports and encourages healthy eating and active living
